ok, while i’m not saying every car with headlights connected to the grilles look terrible, I think we can agree that the XC60 would inherently look better without the headlights attached to the grilles like that.

This peeve of yours doesn’t bother me nearly as much as it bothers you. But I get having things make your OCD itch, because it certainly happens to me.

Here’s something to make your OCD twinge: the Hyundai Elantra Sport has little black winglets on its grille trim that touch the headlights, where the regular Elantra doesn’t.

I certainly like both too, I just think that the XC60 would look slightly better with.. you know.... REGULAR HEADLIGHTS that don’t look weird with a skinny part touching the grille

I don’t mind most headlight grilles, just because they typically do a great job at hiding the hood leading edge shut line.

This still bothers me less than fake grilles. Look at that XC90, most of the air inlets below the main grille are fake. If you need negative area, put some chrome trim that makes it look like a fake foglight or something.

What will be really interesting to see is what they do with the base models that don’t have the LED T-thingy’s in the lights (you know like how 50% of the XC90's on the road just have the basic halogen lights) - do you think they’ll keep this same housing without the LED bar? If so, that will look even worse.

I think as of the new model year the Thor’s Hammer LEDs are now standard on the XC90, probably because the base models looked really cheap without them.

You’re right they are standard now! That is a good thing - they do look better. I see a lot of XC90's running around without them. I wonder, though, if they’ll be standard on this lower-cost XC60. Maybe they will be - the design seems pretty integrated.

Not as bad as newer BMW 3-series...

I completely agree with you that the non-grille one is better, but it doesn’t ruin the front end like BMW did (imo).

And then of course their 2-series doesn’t have the grille-headlights but they majorly effed up the kidney grilles (and overall front end - serious butter face)

the new generation of BMW’s look messed up. the grille is WAY oversized with thick chrome outlines and headlights that connect to it. I hope BMW gets over this design language soon

Agreed.

The 4-series (coupes) are really great designs... except for the headlight-grille area. Bring back the headlight-grille gap please BMW!!

Compared to the 2-series though, which has that gap (but the godawful grilles), the 4-series is significantly better - the best design BMW has now.
